The Snug and Cellar Irish Bar Overview

The Snug and Cellar Irish Bar is a welcoming and charming little bar in the heart of the Old Town of Nice, with a friendly atmosphere and pleasant, cheerful staff. The bar has a great reputation as the only 'Gastro Pub' in Nice and is popular with locals and visitors to the French Riviera alike.
The food at the Snug and Cellar is exceptional. A selection of fresh Tapas is produced daily using fresh, seasonal local ingredients sourced from the local markets.

The a la carte Menu is changed regularly and features tasty dishes all beautiful presented, with Starters such as Whole Baked Camembert in it's own case with rosemary, honey and a garlic confit, served with crudites and a homemade chutney; or Confit Duck Leg slowly roasted in it's own juices with thyme and garlic and served on a mixed bean and tomato cassoulet.

Main courses include Sirloin Steak topped with sauteed mushrooms with honey glazed baby vegetables, hand-cut chips and a red wine jus; Fish of the day with a selection of vegetables and homemade sauce; Rack of Lamb marinated in rosemary and garlic served with minted new potatoes and braised cabbage; or Pan Fried Duck Breast served with chorizo dauphinoise potatoes, fresh asparagus and a red wine jus.

The desserts are a little different with a double chocolate mousse made to look like a baby Guinness served in a half-pint glass and the Creme Brulee which is slightly experimental but delicious as the flavour is changed daily.

The set Menu on offer at lunchtime is served between 12 - 1500 and includes the soup of the day, a choice of main dish from the lunch Menu and either a glass of wine, half a pint or a juice for just €9.80 per person. The lunch menu changes daily but typically includes dishes like linguine carbonara, toad in the hole, garlic king prawns with steamed rice, rare beef, avocado and walnut salad with dijon mustard vinaigrette or roasted pepper and aubergine lasagne. The Anitpasti contains cured meats from France and Corsica, served with marinated vegetables and olives, crusty bread and olive oil.
Throughout the winter season the Snug and Cellar serves mulled wine and cider and a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings from midday every Sunday.

To accompany the marvellous food, a cold pint of Guinness or Kilkenny. Kronenbourg is served all day at just €4.50 a pint, which is great value for this area.
During the summer, the tables outside provide a welcome break and a great vantage point for people watching while enjoying a refreshing pint and some great food.

In the evenings the bar is lively and they show all major televised sporting events on the big screen televsion downstairs in the Cellar.
Happy hour is from 8 - 10pm daily on all cocktails and pints.
Payments by cash only. Open everyday from 12pm - 12:30am.
