Originally the Ancient Greek trading post of Antipolis, Antibes was fortified over the centuries; notably with the 17th century witnessing Vauban build the main Port and Fort Carre, where Napoleon was briefly imprisoned. There, one can enjoy the many pleasant lanes splashed with colourful flowers of the old town and the beautiful market place in Cours Massena. Greater Antibes embraces the modern beach resort of Juan-les-Pins as well as Cap D’Antibes, the exclusive green cape on which Antibes and Juan-les-Pins sit, known for its 2km long pine tree backed sandy beach. Juan -les-Pins is also famous for its outrageous night life where party madness peaks in July when the world renowned Jazz a Juan, week long festival swings into town.

Back In Antibes, make your way to Château Grimaldi which houses the Picasso Museum, the Château he himself used from July – December in 1946. Today it boasts an excellent collection of Picasso’s paintings, drawings, lithographs and ceramics as well as a display on the great Master himself. It is certainly one the of the Riviera’s finest attractions.

Terrace restaurants and cafes line Antibes old town offering plenty of places for breakfast, brunch, lunch though to Dinner. Seafood won’t come much fresher than in these restaurants. What else would you expect from one the of top port resorts, not only on the Riviera but in the world!

If it is night time entertainment you’re after, this is the Quarter to be in. Don’t miss Blvd d’Aguillon, just south of the old city wall, by the port, which is lined with bars.
